1. Title tags. Search robots look at the title tag on a webpage to find out what the page is all about as well as to determine its relevance. The title tag also tells your readers why they should read the page. Your title tag should be 55 characters long, spaces included. Start off with your most important keyword, add a hyphen and then follow it with your website name or a descriptive phrase about the page.
2. Description tags. The description tag is a follow-through on your title tag. It gives more information to the search robots about the content of the page. Think of it as a teaser tag. Your description tag should one or two sentences with keywords included, written in standard English. It should be no more than 250 characters long with spaces included.
3. Keyword tags. Your keyword tag is just a list that tells the search robots what keywords or key phrases they should associate with the webpage when they index it. It is a simple list of the ten keywords or keyword phrases that are most relevant to the webpage, and these words or phrases are separated with commas. You should never list more than ten keywords in this tag. That is considered keyword stuffing and search engines penalize websites for that.
